Since there are so many variations of "Indiana Wants Me," why not issue a CD containing all of them? Stereo/mono/short/long/faster pitch/slower pitch/LP/8-track/cassette/Edison Amberol...

Hi
To YahShure, LOL! Yes a nice cd (or perhaps a box set) with every version would solve the problem.
Just a reminder about the 3:03 version, it was not only the promo 45 or DJ 45 but was also released as the commercial single. Since there were 2 commercial 45's, that's the reason for the difficult choice. If the short one was only for radio then i think he'd automatically choose the 3:35 version.
BTW, re: track list, sorry i don't have the full track list but I was told it is pretty much set. I don't think it can be published until the licensing is all worked out.

My vote would be for the short version (absent sirens). This was the version played in Chicago on powerhouses WLS and WCFL (#1 on CFL) and available on stock copy in record stores. I never had heard the siren version until a bought a Motown compilation LP in the 80's.   Additionally, a siren version was available on CD for some time on Rhino's "Have a Nice Day" series.

Mark, since Bill has placed some excellent selections that just-missed the Top 40 on prior issues ("Witchi Tai To"; "You Wouldnt Listen") I would nominate "Mongoose by Elephant's Memory and "You Got Me Hummin" (45 version)by Cold Blood-two smokers!

Since the stereo Yesteryear 45 isn't an exact replica of either original 1970 45 release, I personally find that version to be of no value, unlike my friend Tom. I vote #1, for an exact stereo mix of the (3:35) 45 version, then #2, an exact stereo mix of the (3:02) 45 version. Thanks for a great thread, and a big thank you to the great folks at Eric; I already own EVERY one of your label's CDs, and always will, and even all from the "Hit Parade" 50's CD series!!!

Over three years later and it turns out this track was never included by Eric Records on any of their releases as of yet. I hope it does get included on a future CD.

Well, both short and long single versions were included on one of the "Compete Motown Singles" sets from Hip-O.

Yes, I'm aware of the two mono versions on the Motown Singles box, Vol. 10. I believe this thread covered an all stereo version (some previous electronic stereo versions had just the sound effects in stereo) that Bill Buster and team were working on.

Looks like we will not have to wait much longer for this song to finally appear on CD in stereo.
