todd/paul was kind enough to send me a wave file so i could
compare it to my commercial 45 of the song 'spirit in the
night'....the file he sent matches my 45 perfectly....below
is the description of the file he sent....

OSC -- Manfred Mann's Earth Band - Spirit in the Night (hit
1977 version) (from Manfred Mann 'The Roaring Silence' -
Cohesion~Warner Bros. 009)....thanks for helping us get to
the bottom of this mess!!!!!

THANKS!!

Does the 1977 version that barely hit the top 10 end cold or fade? Also, does this version have the laughing at the 1:37 mark?

I'm trying to make it easy to distinguish between the earlier version with Mick Rogers on the lead vocals and the later higher charting version with Chris Thompson on lead.

Thanks in advance.

Went through all the copies in the archives I have of Spirit In The Night.

All of the Mick Rogers versions have the laughing. The Chris Thompson version does not have the laughing.

The Mick Rogers version ends with a cold ending. The Chris Thompson version fades at the end.

My Chris Thompson version has laughing at approx. 1:44 (after "crazy cat" lyric).

Does anyone know if a long Chris Thomson version exists on any format in any country?

Good catch Andy, guess I only listened around 1:37.

I can only find the single version on the Manfred Mann compilations and The Roaring Silence.
