I believe I read in the liner notes of one of the ABBA CDs (or box sets) that the US single mix of "Ring Ring" was taken from vinyl - because the master tape couldn't be found in the vaults. |

I don't know but if you're correct (and you very likely are), then I must be remembering another early ABBA song that was taken from vinyl for the US release on CD. Maybe it was "Honey Honey". I do remember that whatever song it was, the US mix had more horns (prominent sax overdubs) in the chorus. The fact that you mentioned prominent saxophone overdubs in "Ring Ring" might have been what threw me off. :)

The US Remix from the Waterloo deluxe CD does sound grungy and has NR. I agree with AaronsAmazing that it sounds more like a cassette than vinyl.
