Curiously, was there ever a promo edit with the acapella intro edited off? Most every station around here (including ours) did not play the acapella part...we didn't think it fit so we cued past it when the song was dubbed into the automation. The radio edit we received had the cold intro.

I am bumping this one back up. Just like Hykker mentioned,
I recall most stations in Boston where I lived in the 90's playing a version of the song that I have never found on a promo cd. It was edited down from the Album version to about 4 minutes but did not include the 12 second intro. I have a cassette tape somewhere with the edit I recorded from Kiss 108, WXKS. It might have been an in house edit but I am betting it might have been an edit on a promo disc like Hot Hits, Top Hits or Hitmakers. The only promo disc I have ever found is PRO-CD-8891-R. Anyone have any other info? |

I have both PRO-CD-8891-R and PRO-CD-8848-R. Ths same two tracks are on both, just in a different order. The "Edit" on both CDs includes the vocal intro.
It wouldn't surprise me if the stations you heard it on cued past the intro. This was the same year my small market top 40 station finally invested in an automation system, so it was relatively easy for the music director to cue past an unwanted intro when loading the song in. |
