I was hoping the expanded edition of Gap Band IV was
on Qobuz but it's not.

I just listened to the 45 version on the Time-Life collection
Disco Fever - Let's Groove collection and the pop is
there at 1:47 as well.

Could the proper opening drum fill be edited into the 45
version listed as having the improper opening drum fill?

No, there is at least one other section in the 45 version that is nowhere to be found on the long version. As I recall, it's somewhere after the second chorus.

Jason, I looked up what people thought of the expanded
editon of Gap Band IV on Amazon. Presuming this
review was for this particular CD, here's what someone said
after their purchase -

"Sadly the remastering on this album is atrocious. Dropouts
and a very boxy sound quality throughout. Trust me, the
UNexpanded edition is far better quality - I know since I
have both. I was so pleased to get Outstanding Instrumental
version but am seriously disappointed with it. Other BBR
recordings are nowhere near as bad as this one generally,
having bought quite a few. I dunno what the good people at
BBR were thinking when releasing this as an 'acceptable'
recording :("

Hey eriejwg:

So, does Disco fever-Let's groove cd has the proper 45
version despite the defect listed?

According to the database, it does contain the proper 45
version. Though, I'm not thrilled with the sound quality.

John - thanks for the info on the expanded edition of Gap
Band IV. I have a handful of BBR releases in my collection,
and most of them have good to excellent sound. I was hoping
that would be the case here.

Pretty sure that Disco Fever - Let's Groove uses the
Billboard disc as its source.
