Digging up this old thread over 15 years later in assembling the 1955-1959 period on CD realizing that this #1 hit is not on CD in its correct 45 version in Mono or Stereo. Has anyone found a source for it domestically or overseas that is not the alternate take? Is the 45 dub and the LP in stereo the only places to get this #1?

Rich,
The 45 is available (mono only...no stereo for it) on Hit Parade's "Hard To Find Jukebox Classics 1959: Pop Gold". The stereo "alternate take" was on the stereo 33 1/3 and is on numerous CDs. |

The mono 45 version is also on this licensed CD from Sony-BMG, from tape source, commonly found in gift shops such as Hallmark:
