My commercial 45, which is mono and confirmed as Mercury 72798, has a listed time of (2:56) and an actual time of (2:55). I only post this info because all current mono CDs that include this song also happen to run exactly (2:55). However, the three stereo CD versions run either (3:03) or (3:04). Perhaps this time difference is the result of slightly longer LP length.

I noticed in the database there is a 45 vs. LP version
distinction. But the times are fairly close. Can anyone tell me the difference in the 45 version? Is it the mix? MM |

I was under the impression that the stereo version was a
CD era remix. Does anyone know if I am right or wrong? Andy |

I think the LP version had a horn in the intro missing from the 45

Does anyone here own the original LP (was it 'The Ice
Man Cometh'? Did it come out in both stereo and mono or just stereo? What did "Never Give You Up" sound like on it? Andy |

Mark I have revisited your question and I feel 45 mix and
LP mix should be applicable rather than 45 version and LP version. The mono mix has the percussion much lower than the stereo LP mix |

To Pat:
Do you own the original stereo LP? It sounds like you may. Is it the same mix that made it to CD with the drier, less reverby sound? Thanks for checking if you have the time. Andy |
