The database currently lists all CDs with "Get Busy" being in mono. My Promo Only disc is also very close to mono, but not quite. When I invert one of the channels and sum them together, some of the instruments and reverb do not cancel out completely. I'm wondering if the (M) CDs are actually "very poor stereo separation"?

The sample of "Get Busy" on "Dutty Rock" on Amazon is not mono. It's very narrow stereo, but it's not mono.

Interesting... There was a discussion on another message board years ago where posters were trying to pinpoint the most recent Top 40 hit to be released in mono. I claimed "Get Busy" was the winner, but now I may have to retract this in light of the new information put forth by Aaron and Brian!

Here is my promo CD single info:
-Sean Paul-"Get Busy" (PRCD 301057) 1-Album Version (listed 3:32; actual 3:31) 2-Diwali Riddim Instrumental (listed 3:20; actual 3:18) I will shoot out track one to Aaron for his analysis; if it appears to him to be in mono from this source, it should probably then be awarded with the "current last hit in mono" award! |

Jim, your promo CD, like the rest of the database CDs, has "very poor stereo separation." That actually seems to be pretty common these days. I've heard plenty of recent pop songs that are very narrow stereo.
