I checked my promo single for this, and the actual disc
agrees with what Todd posted. The jewel case inserts though, show only one, non-described version. Catalog # shown on the insert is PRCD-300280, there is no number on the disc itself. |

Thanks, Hykker!
By the way, I can confirm that two of the database entries on Curb 78829 and Warner Music Group/BMG 78192 contain the "Graham Stack Radio Edit" from the promo CD single. Edited by Todd Ireland |

I have two promo CDs for "Can't Fight The Moonlight" that are different from the one Hykker has:
CURBD-1582 1. non-described version (3:35) CURBD-1629 1. Album Version (3:35; actual 3:33) 2. Graham Stack Radio Remix (3:35; actual 3:33) My copy of CURBD-1629 has professionally pressed inserts; however, the disc itself is a Mitsui CD-R with a paper adhesive label. I have other promo CDs on Curb Records that are pressed on Mitsui CD-Rs instead of factory-pressed discs, and some of them do not play any longer. The LeAnn Rimes disc plays just fine in my regular stand-alone CD player, but my computer's disc drive is having major troubles ripping it using EAC. A WORD OF CAUTION: If you also own Curb promo CD singles from this time period, you may want to check them to see if they are on CD-Rs. I have had several promo CD-Rs go bad and are no longer playable, especially ones from the early 2000s put out by Curb & Universal. The discs that seem to be most affected are the ones with a very pale green dye color. Discs pressed on "Mitsui Gold" CD-Rs, which have a golden dye color, still seem to play okay, and so do CD-Rs issued by Sony/Columbia/Epic with a medium green-colored dye. Edited by aaronk |

This song had two chart runs. The CD single and the one-track promo Aaron mentions were issued featuring only the original album version in late summer 2000. It first debuted in September 2000 and was a smash all over the world except in the U.S., where it only reached number 71. While it was still in its first chart run, maxi-singles were released with eight (!!!) remixes.
A year later, after the original soundtrack had sold over three million copies, Curb decided to work the song again and issued the two-track promo Aaron mentions. It re-entered the chart in December 2001 and this time reached number 11. This time many (perhaps most, but by no means all) radio stations played the "Graham Stack Radio Remix". A few weeks into this second chart run, Billboard even started to list Graham Stack as a co-producer. (Graham Stack had nothing to do with the original version.) So there were at least three different promo CDs. Hykker, does the year 2001 appear anywhere on your 3-track promo CD? That would indicate that it was issued when Curb was promoting the song for the second time. |

The jewel case insert shows (P) & (C) 2000, there is no date noted on the disc itself. |

The CDR promo I have (CURBD-1629) has a 2001 copyright date.

I just obtained the 3-track promo CD single, and I believe the "CS333" number referenced above is the eBay seller's inventory number--not a catalog number. I've bought several things from that seller, and all of his listings have a similar number, which I believe helps him locate items in his huge inventory.
Unlike Hykker's copy, the disc I just obtained has a catalog number on both the insert and disc, and the track listing is shown on the back insert. Curb D-1592 / PRCD 300374 (both numbers are listed) 1. Album Version (3:35 listed; 3:33 actual) 2. Graham Stack Radio Edit (3:35 listed: 3:34 actual) 3. Thunderpuss Radio Edit (3:36 listed & actual) |

Another case where I never heard the album version on the CD single, only the Graham Stack Radio Edit. A might good remix for its time. Too bad the song did not get into the top 10...

Unfortunately, my copy appears to be one of those, and no longer plays, or is recognized by any player of CD-ROM drive I have. :-( |

That stinks, Hykker :( I need to finish checking all of
my CD-R promos to see which ones have become coasters. |
