I noticed that CDs in the database run between 3:53 and 4:02, but none have comments next to them. Are the shorter ones a 45 length, or is this a case of "faded :09 earlier than the 45 & LP"?

Aaron, I just timed my commercial 45 for you. The listed time is (4:03) and the actual time is (4:02).

Jim, you are truly the Run Time Sleuth! It's probably debatable as to who has timed the most 45s in his lifetime: Jimct or Joel Whitburn. I'd put my money on Jim!
By the way, it looks like database appearances shorter than 4:02 are (faded :xx early). |

I noticed when listening to this song this morning that there is an audible splice at 3:54, after the song is well into its fade out. Thinking that it was odd they would make an edit at that point, I discovered the reason why: it's a loop! At 3:54, the same segment of music that begins at 3:38 starts again and continues through the fade out.

Very interesting Aaron. So the entries in the database than run 3:53 must not have the extra loop tacked on to the end of the track.

Yes, I have a Paul Simon compilation that runs 3:54 and segues into the next
track just before the loop. |
