Am lifting this quote from another Ringo Starr thread.
"If you're looking to purchase "Oh My My" with the beginning countdown, it's available digitally on the 1973 "Ringo" release. Of course, the song is at LP length." My question is how different is the 45? Length is apparently different. Was the intro shorter? Any other edits? I'd appreciate any help you could give me. |

I don't have the album version, but the mono side of my
promo 45 runs 3:14 (listed 3:15), the stereo side runs 3:36 (listed 3:38). The difference sounds like an edit in the chorus toward the end of the song, the intro is the same on both. I was disregarding the count-off when doing the timing. How spoiled we've gotten with CDs...had never really noticed before how noisy this record is. Bad for even an early-mid 70s Capitol pressing. Here's what I have on "Oh My My":
Mono DJ side: 3:16.9 (actual) Stereo DJ side 3:40 (actual) (Same as stock, an early fade of the LP version) Label times same as Hykker, and just as noisy! I included the count off on the intro for timing, which is present on both sides of the DJ 45. Speeds match exactly on both sides of the DJ 45. To create the 3:15 edit you can use the stock single or LP, or a CD source with the count off, it doesn't matter. Everything on the 3:15 edit matches the 45 and LP until 2:43, at "You Can Boogie".. at that point edit to 3:07 "Watch Me Boogie" The fade down starts at 3:09 (on your edit) and should to silence at 3:16.9. My Beatles solo quest continues...looking for either the (3:17) and/or the (3:40) edit of this one.

Thanks Bill. I found that I had to boost the edit point by one db.Otherwise, there was a slight drop. |
