Hey everyone, I couldn't find a reference to this song in the forum.
Is the 45 edit just an early fade of the album version or are there edit points within the song? |

Dale, the easy way to tell is with Pat's database. If he indicates "LP length"
and "45 length" for a song, then (if the 45 time is less than the LP time, which is usually the case) the 45 simply fades before the LP. If he uses "45 version", then it is not an early fade, but an edit, and/or different in some other way. Happy discovering! |

Ah, that makes sense, and it makes what I am trying to accomplish easier. Thanks for the clarification, David!

There are a couple exceptions to this, though--songs like Stevie Wonder's "Superwoman" or Foghat's "Slow Ride" are early fades, but the times of the LP versions are significantly longer (and in the case of "Superwoman" it almost morphs into a completely different tune). So those are classified as "version" differences, even though they could just as easily be classified as "length" differences. (I think Stevie Wonder's "As" also fits.) In cases like that, it doesn't hurt to ask. Edited by sriv94 |
