Firstly, apologies for requesting information about a non-
Top 40 hit. This one only made it to #70, I believe. The LP version runs 6:21. The 45 version contains several edits and runs about 3:54. My question is: does anyone know if the 45 version has shown up on CD at all? And if so, on which disc(s)? Thanks in advance for your help. |

Bwci Bo, the version on both her U.S. "The Very Best Of Stacy Lattisaw" CD on
Rhino, and her original "Sneakin' Out" LP reissue on CD both feature the LP version. I only checked the latter, hoping to find that your desired 45v might've been included as a bonus track there - it wasn't. I would be absolutely stunned if any CD in the world contains the 1982 45 version for "Attack Of The Name Game", I'm sad to say. |

OMG 'KTU in NY used to play this and I owned this 45
once. I had completely forgotten about this record until I saw this post. Holy blast from the past..I had to go to youtube and play it. YUP... they played this a lot! As for the game itself, I'm more into the traditional Shirley Ellis game ... Banana-Fana Fo Firly....etc. MM |

Thanks jimct. I thought it was pretty unlikely too, but it was worth a shot just in case someone had encountered it on an import 80s compilation. In the meantime I've made my own custom edit, based on a 45 I found on YouTube. |

I'll chime in too on this one - I loved pretty much everything Stacy Lattisaw did while she was on Cotillion. I'm not sure if the promotion just wasn't right, or what the deal was, but I can't believe she couldn't get at least one top ten hit out of her run on that label. "Miracles" is still a beautiful record that belies its low #40 peak.

I agree with everything you say, Frank. "Miracles" would have easily been a #1 hit if instead it was recorded a couple years later by Whitney Houston. I was so glad when Stacy's last Cotillion and first Motown albums were finally released on CD (in the past 5 years), more than 25 years after the LPs were. Great songs on them.

To the best of my knowledge, the 45 version of "Attack Of The Name Game" has never been issued on anything other than the original 45, not even on a re-issue 45.
I agree that "Miracles" is an overlooked gem and can't understand why it wasn't a bigger hit. Frederick Knight had originally written "Ring My Bell" for Stacy Lattisaw, but when that deal fell through he rewrote some of the lyrics and it became a #1 song for Anita Ward. |
