I apologize if I missed it, but I didn't see a previous thread on the 1979 hit "It Must Be Love" by Alton McClain & Destiny.

I note that the only database entry for this song is the V/A Compilation "Disco Nights Vol. VII - D.J. Pix," which states a running time of 2:58. There is no version designation.

Is this the 45 Version? I ask because I know (or think I know) the LP Version from the 1979 Alton McClain & Destiny Album also titled "It Must Be Love" runs approximately 4:41, as does the 12-inch, I believe. (I apologize that I do not have the exact running time).

I know the 45 (which I think is Polydor 14532) has a listed time of 3:00, so if the version on "Disco Nights Vol. VII - D.J. Pix" runs 2:58, I suppose it would make sense that that is the 45 Version?? Is that right?

The 45 version does indeed appear on this "Disco Nights Vol VII" cd. The 45 runs (2:58) exactly like the cd appearance.

Can we OFFICIALLY determine what 45 version hit the streets FIRST?

My 45 (bought during its run up the charts) is the guitar intro version.

I noticed some 45s included a credit for the string arrangement; however, I *think* that credit is NOT on the versions with the string intro....

Can anyone help me out?

Andy

Based on some emails exchanged between members, it appears there are two 45 versions. One version is an edit of the LP version and has guitar throughout. The other version is a remix where the guitar has been removed from the mix and replaced by strings.

The database has been updated.
