I am reasonably sure that the Plantation 45 was mastered from an Impel 45 (which times out to 2:17). I think the Plantation 45 sounds inferior to my ears.

If your Impel 45 times out to 2:17 I'd really love to hear it, as mine times out to 2:09 as I stated earlier.
Live in stereo.

Checked my turntable against a strobe disc. Slow. Recalibrated the SP-25's pitch gain. Center position is accurate and stable against the strobe disc. Rechecked the Impel 45 timing, it is indeed 2:09.

Tonight a friend of mine purchased a promotional copy of the Plantation records release #28, and let me borrow it as I had been discussing this thread with him earlier in the week. His promo 45 has a listed run time of 2:08 and an actual time of 2:08.5. Deadwax info reads 711-610 113. I didn't notice volume level changes between :10 and :18 but that doesn't mean they're not there, I don't have very good hearing, but I do think the master was likely disc dubbed since the record, to me, doesn't sound as good as the Impel release.
Live in stereo.
