Pat:
I notice the database shows multiple appearances of Elton John's "I Don't Want to Go on with You Like That" on the remastered edition of the Reg Strikes Back CD (Island 314558478) as follows: (S) (4:32) Island 314558478 Reg Strikes Back (remastered edition; LP version) (S) (7:16) Island 314558478 Reg Strikes Back (remastered edition; 12” single version) (S) (4:35) Island 314558478 Reg Strikes Back (remastered edition; 12” single version) As you can see, two of the tracks are noted as being the 12" single version, yet they have differing run times. Are one of the notations incorrect? |

I think the shorter one should be "piano/vocal mix" or "a cappella mix," since it's the "Just Elton and His Piano Mix."

Both of these versions appear on the commercial 12" single.

I think what he's saying is people might find it confusing that you've called them both "12 inch mix" when they're different mixes. |

Yes, that is what I'm saying. Since the tracks in question both appear on the 12" single, I was going to suggest perhaps adding some additional comments to help readers differentiate between the two, such as: (this is the "Just Elton and His Piano Mix", which is one of the 12" single versions).

What's the difference (if any) between the LP version and the 7" 45 version?

The LP and commercial 45 versions were the same, if memory serves. In my area, one of the shorter Shep Pettibone remix versions from the 12" single got a lot of radio play (I can't remember the specific name of that version). That's the version I most often play today. |

Yes, the LP version was the US 45 version, b/w the non-LP track "Rope Around a Fool." KUBE, the top 40 station in Seattle at the time, also played the remix edit almost exclusively. To my knowledge, it was only issued on the promo CD single. There was also an early fade of the LP version on the promo. In addition, there was a promo of the dance remixes that I used to own but sold for $50 back in the late '90s, something I now regret. Most of the remixes I have elsewhere, but there was one mix on the promo that is unissued elsewehre. Edited by Brian W. |

Revisiting this song, can someone detail how to recreate
the DJ 45 fade running 3:57? |

I don't know if this will help but the 4:00 version can be found on the 2 CD
set "The Very Best of Elton John" from 1990. It's a UK release. It's also on the promo US CD single along with the 4:12 (12" Radio Edit). I own both CD's I mentioned so I know the info is correct. Pat |
