The actual commercial 45 run time of Billy Squier's "In the Dark" is 3:38, not 3:40 as stated on the record label. (These timings are courtesy of abagon.) This is a significant finding because database CD appearances of this song run 4:07-4:09. That said, we're likely dealing with a version or length difference between the 45 and LP. I will try to obtain a 45 dub for further analysis, but until then can anyone furnish some insight into the time difference?

I verified the difference between the 45 and the U.S. issue LP "Don't Say No" (Capitol ST 12146).
This song on the parent LP "Don't Say No" has the actual running time and the printed time on the LP label of (4:08). As the result, the 45 is removed the 3 points (in the intro, in the bridge, in the ending verse), and has a fade in. Probably, it is possible to make the 45 version from the LP. Thereby, the 8 CDs of this song on the db can be indicated to (LP version). |

On the subject of Mr Squier, does anyone know if the 45 version of Emotions In Motion is an edit of the lp version as well? And where the edit(s) are.
The single label says 3:45 on the scans I've seen. The lp version runs 4:58. Edited by Indy500 |

I forgot to enter my notes onto the board, but I can come
close. Start with the LP version on Best Of 16 Strokes. Keep three sections of Best Of 16 Strokes: 0.04.2-2.40.2 2.53.0-3.40.4 3.53.2-4.10.3 Add a slight fade-in to the beginning of the first section, and presto. |

There's a lot of crap on the radio, but there's only one Crap From The Past.

Yes, it is an edit of the LP version. I re-created it last year via using a video playing it on YouTube as my source. Let me know if you need it. |
