My commercial 45, confirmed as Smash 1919, has a listed time of (2:23), but an actual time of (2:14). All current database CDs that include this song, including the Hip-O Singles set, have runtimes closer to its listed time, at between (2:20) and (2:22), so further investigation will be needed here.

Does anyone have James Brown's Out of Sight parent vinyl LP from 1964 who can pass along the run time for the title track? I'm curious to know if it contains the longer 2:20-2:22 length that, as Jim pointed out, has always appeared on CD.

I have the Smash 45 EP in which Out of Sight runs 2:16.

I notice "Out of Sight" contains some additional reverb on the James Brown Singles Volume 3: 1964-1965 CD set (Hip-O Select/Polydor B0008804) compared to all the other CDs on which I have the song. Since the Hip-O Select CD series is supposed to bring to light every James Brown single released during his King Records era, does this mean that commercial and/or promo 45 pressings contain the added reverb?

todd....i don't detect any additional reverb on the vinyl
45 versus the cdr version i have....if there is, it's imperceptible to me......also....you can effectively re-
create the true vinyl 45 version by fading for 0:05 from
2:08 to 2:13 of the 2:22 version
