my commercial cassingle as well as vinyl 45 of the janet jackson song "miss you much" issued as a&m 1445 does not state a version but is an edit of the full length 4:12 version and lists a run time of 3:55 but actually runs 3:53.....this single info should be added to the database....

This is interesting... I have two commercial CD single releases of "Miss You Much". One is on A&M 12325 and contains the following tracks and timing info:
1) Miss You Much (7" Edit) - 3:54 (same as printed time) 2) You Need Me [this is a non-LP track and the commercial 45 "B" side] - 4:33 (printed time: 4:34) 3) Miss You Much (Mama Mix) - 7:21 (printed time: 7:22) 4) Miss You Much (Oh I Like That Mix) - 4:55 (printed time: 4:56) Notice the "Mama Mix" on Track 3, is not only also on the promo CD single that Ed documented above, but I believe it's also considered the official 12" single version. The "Oh I Like That Mix" is a drastically different mix than the 7" Edit. The second commercial CD single I have is on A&M 75021 2398 and contains the following contents: 1) Miss You Much (7" Slammin' R&B Mix) - 4:25 (printed time: 4:26) 2) Miss You Much (Slammin' R&B Mix) - 7:35 (printed time: 7:36) 3) You Need Me [this is the non-LP track and commercial 45 "B" side] - 4:33 (printed time: 4:34) The "7-Inch Slammin' R&B Mix" is not drastically different than the cassette single version, but the mix differences are noticeable. The intro also starts off with Janet saying: "I love this", followed by a sung vocal spelling out "M-I-S-S" four times before the song finally kicks in full swing. My research indicates that both versions of this mix also appeared on promo 12" single copies. Further research also indicates that vinyl commercial 45 copies have a printed run time of 3:55, which seems to suggest this is the 7" Edit though it does not specifically state so on the label. Does anyone have a copy who can verify if it is indeed the 7" Edit? Edited by Todd Ireland |

I just pulled and timed my stock 45 copy of "Miss You Much." It is, indeed, the 7" Edit with a printed time of 3:54 and actual time of 3:53.
I also, just today, obtained a second promo CD single that has not previously been documented: CD 17917 1. 7" Slammin' R&B Mix (listed & actual 4:26) 2. 7" House Mix (listed & actual 4:53) 3. 7" R&B Mix (listed & actual 4:16) 4. Slammin' R&B Mix (listed & actual 7:36) 5. Shep's House Mix (listed & actual 8:36) |
