DJ 45 lists a time of 2:30 as does Jay and the American's Vinyl LP, as does the Legendary Masters CD sleeve. They're all wrong. The DJ 45 runs 2:48. Most CD issues including the Legendary Masters run 2:45 or so.
All takes appear to be identical, except the DJ 45 runs a LOT slower than the Legendary Masters CD and other CD versions. Which is why there is a difference in the time between the DJ 45 and the CD versions. My bet is that the stock matches that slower DJ in speed, but I don't know about LP versions. Maybe the higher pitch started with LPs somewhere along the way. |

my commercial 45 for the jay & the americans song 'come a
little bit closer' issued as united artist 759 lists the run time on the label as 2:30 but actually runs 2:48.....so, bill your hunch is correct....the db should reflect this commercial 45 info as well as the dj 45.... |
