Just noticed that my copy of this song from Time-Life SOD-12 Sounds Of The Seventies - 1971: Take Two has what sounds like a tape glitch in the beginning.

I'm having trouble distinguishing it (and usually I pick up on these glitch or speed issues). Where should I be listening?

Hmmm. I'm stil not picking it up, or it's not glaringly obvious on mine.

Pat:
Though it's not currently listed in the database, I thought I'd point out that the "live" version of Joan Baez's "The Night They Drove Old Dixie Down" appears on the CD Classics Volume 8 (A&M 2506). John: I just listened to "The Night They Drove Old Dixie Down" on my copy of the Sounds Of The Seventies - 1971: Take Two CD. And while I don't detect what I'd call a "glitch" per se, it's as though the tape source used for this song sounds a little bit "worn" during the first couple of seconds compared to the rest of the recording. Does this accurately describe what you're hearing? Edited by Todd Ireland |

I also have the song on the Classic California Rock various artists CD (Delta 46094) and it does not have that fluttering worn tape sound during the first couple of seconds. The Time-Life disc may have used a tape source where the lead tape had gotten twisted or creased.
