my commercial cd single for the joe song 'all the things
(your man won't do)' issued as island 854530 contains the
below tracks
1-lp version (listed 6:20; actual 6:19)
2-radio edit (listed 4:50; actual 4:49)

the db states that the promo cd single contains a shorter
3:42 version......does anyone own the promo cd single for
this song that they could provide the details....

in addition all of whitburns books list the run time at
4:12

I have two promo CD singles, in addition to the stock CD single you list above.

Island (PRCD 7200-2)
1. Short Radio Edit (listed & actual 3:42)

Island (PRCD 7060-2)
1. Video Version (listed 4:11; actual 4:10)
2. Radio Edit (listed 4:50; actual 4:49)
3. LP Version (listed 6:20; actual 6:19)
4. Instrumental (listed & actual 6:20)

Whitburn must be listing the run time for the "Video Version" on PRCD 7060-2. I haven't done a direct comparison, but I think the Short Radio Edit on PRCD 7200-2 is the same as the Video Version, except that it has the first :28 chopped off and a quick, abrupt fade-in at the beginning.

My US commercial 45 has the "Video Version". The stated run time of (4:11) is correct to within a second or two.
