you mention in the database that the 45 runs 3:58 and the lp version runs 3:51, but you don't list which cd contain which version.......does the billboard top hits:1982 contain the cotrrect 45 version.......

Ed:

I can do an A/B comparison to be sure, but it appears the Billboard Top Hits: 1982 CD does contain the correct 45 length of "Up Where We Belong".

Ed:

Are you saying the correct 45 length is actually 3:55? I consulted you about this single a couple months ago and thought you reported the vinyl 45 run time was 3:58.

According to the database, the 45 length of Joe Cocker and Jennifer Warnes' "Up Where We Belong" is 3:56. It should probably also be noted that the record label on commercial 45 copies incorrectly states the run time at 4:00.

Does your copy of this song, any copy, have a glitch on the first word sung, "Who" ?

I also have a couple with noise reduction and they tried to fix the glitch but it's still there.

Going to possibly try iTunes or Amazon to see if there's a glitch free version.

Thanks.

What exactly does the glitch sound like? I'm listening to a copy on my PC where there is some low frequency noise during that word, almost as if the microphone was picking up "wind," for lack of a better description.

Is your source for this song the Billboard Top Hits 1982 CD? Because I do hear a prominent "tick" on the first "Who" and a smaller anomaly 2 words later on "what". However, those anomalies are not present on several other CDs that I checked: Cosmopolitan Vol. 2, Mystic Music Presents Cool Rock, Class Reunion 1982.

Could either be a problem with the tape source used for the Billboard CD, or possibly a mastering or pressing error. If it was a problem with the digital transfer on the Billboard CD, then I would expect that glitch to appear on other CDs, since the Rhino Billboard series has been a frequently used source for other CDs.

My copies of "The Envelope Please... Academy Award Winning Songs 1934-1993" & "Billboard Top Hits 1982" both contain the tick

My copy from Sounds Of The Eighties 1982 has the glitch on the word 'who' as well.
