There must have been, because the album version was not the hit version. The hit version, which appears on my Promo Only cd series, was remixed and quite different from the album version. I don't recall seeing a commercial cd single for the song, so a promo cd probably exists.

Ed, welcome back, my friend - your diligent investigative efforts have been sorely missed here on the Board. I have a one-track promo CD single for this, which simply states the song title, with no listed time. The actual time is (4:34), however. It was one of the first promo CD singles we got in to the station without an official Ruffhouse/Columbia promo CD issue #. Instead, it has a plain white label, with title/artist/label printed on it, on a "Mitsui Gold" CD. It was an official issue, however. I will shoot this out to Aaron for his "version analysis."

Jim, the version you sent to me matches the remixed version on my Promo Only CD. I haven't looked too hard for this version on an official release, but I don't ever remember coming across it on any compilations or singles. It must be out there somewhere besides on the burned CD-R promos that were issued to radio.

To add to this thread, I obtained a 2-track promo CD, also just on a Mitsui CD-R with a paper stick-on label. Track 1 is "Lost Ones," while track 2 is the hit version of "Can't Take My Eyes Off You." (On the label, there is no "of" in the title.) The actual run time of track 2 is (4:36). There are no times printed on the label.

There is a 3:42 version that is on a 1998 Top Hits USA
compilation disc. This was the version we played at Z100 NY back in the day. Not sure if this version is exclusive to this disc.

I remember having a UK promo CD (XPCD1071 according to the
Discogs page) containing the "hit" remix. No idea where it wound up.

I'm pretty sure the 3:42 version is the LP version,
which was a hidden track on Miseducation.
