For the song "Ebb Tide" by Lenny Welch, the database gives the run time of all mono CD appearances as (2:30) and of the stereo appearances as (2:36). I timed my U.S. commercial 45 at (2:30) as the label indicates. The only CD I have on which this song appears in stereo is the Taragon Anthology CD, and it features a different take. In addition to whatever that opening instrument is sounding different, an immediately noticeable difference is the transition from the words "through an embrace" to "I can tell" at about (1:23). On the 45, Welch holds the last syllable of "embrace" and there is no pause between "embrace" and "I can tell." In the Taragon version there is a noticeable pause.

Anybody know if the version on the Ace Cadence Story is the correct 45 version?

Yes I have the Ace CD. It is mono here and runs 2:30.
It matches what Paul describes above as the 45
version.

I suspect the mono may be more than one take spliced
together but I'll need to do a sync check to verify
that.

I would describe the stereo version as "stereo LP
version" assuming it was on a stereo LP back then.

Funny, until now I didn't even know there was a stereo
version, I only ever had mono on vinyl or CD.

Edit: I just found the stereo was indeed on the
Columbia LP "Since I Fell For You" so "Stereo LP
version" is accurate.
