Leo Sayer - "How Much Love"
The LP's actual running time with the printed time is (3:38) on the "Endless Flight" vinyl LP (Warner BS 4962) The actual and the listed time of my commercial 45 is (3:33) (Warner WBS 8319) Are there two pressings of "How Much Love" 45? Because there is the description of " (the actual 45 running time is (3:34) not (3:38) as stated on the record label) " on the database now. Also I compared the 45 with the LP. The 45 is much faster than the LP. --abagon |

Was there a DJ edit/promo copy with a shorter version of this song? My Greatest Hit CD has a similar length to what was listed above. Too my ears, it sounds a little longer than what I remember on-the-air back in the 70's. If there was an edit, and you know the edit points, I would appreciate your help. Thanks!

Tim, my DJ 45 has a listed time of (3:33) on both the mono and stereo sides. Although not shown on the labels, there is an "RE-1" suffix on the etched matrix numbers on both sides, which raises the possibility that there may have been more than one set of cuttings, but doesn't necessarily mean that more than one of those cuttings aside the RE-1s ever made it as far as the pressing stage. It could be just a case of the non-RE-1 original cuttings having been rejected for any number of reasons.
Perhaps your local station(s) made their own custom edit. But 3:33 certainly wasn't considered overly long in 1977. |

Or, the printed time on the 45 is wring? I don't have the
45 to verify it, though. The song sounds perfect as an album track. I don't see why they would edit it for the dingle. but, then, they did rearrange and edit "You Make me Feel Like Dancing", and they way they did it makes no sense. The single doesn't flow very well. |

At least on my promo copy, the printed time on my dingle is not wring. Mono and stereo sides both run exactly (3:33), which match the listed times and abagon's commercial 45 in his original post.

Thanks for all the reponses. It could be that I just remembered it wrong. Wouldn't be the first time!
