you might want to mention the fact that the 45 version issued on the "casablanca greatest hits" cd has a very long fade out, about 0:50 seconds.........the 45 itself has about a 0:13 fade out.......edtop40 |

I don't know the particulars of the (3:11) length database entry, that currently says (45 version), and the (3:18) database entry that says "longer fade than 45 version", but my commercial 45, and both the mono and stereo sides of my promo 45, all have both a listed and actual time of (3:17). My commercial 45 deadwax says "NB-925-AS SP2". I currently have my doubts as to whether ANY CD does, in fact, feature the correct 45 version.

Ed is correct on his post, the version on Casablanca's Greatest Hits cd is the 45 version but there is a long slow fade that you will not find on the vinyl 45 so technically it is slightly different than the 45. The version on Realm titled "Ultimate Disco Classics" features a much shorter fade but they end the song :07 sooner than the 45.

Ah, so the fade on the Casablanca GH starts way back at (2:27)? Holy smokes, that's gotta be the longest fade on record, albeit not an accurate re-creation of the 45's fade. Now I get it. Thanks, guys.

Proving I have no life, LOL, and love using Adobe Audition, spent some time today tweaking that long :50 fade to where it fades out with :13 to go to 3:17...

Hands down, the honor for longest fadeout on a single has to be The Beatles' "Hey Jude". Though the precise starting point of the fadeout is hard to determine since it occurs so slowly and gradually, my digital editing software seems to visually show the fade beginning at approximately the 4:26 mark. It goes all the way through the end of the song at 7:14, making the total fade time a whopping 2:48! |

well, i just bought the cd below
(S) (3:16) &nb sp; Hip-O B0009075 Classic Disco Number 1's (45 version) because the db claims it has the correct 45 version, but this is also not the correct 45 version.....this version has the slow fade as well.....this fade starts at the 2:35 mark......while the vinyl 45 fade starts at around the 3:00 mark.....the db should be updated to reflect this.... |

tambourine on the into in the right channel on the cd version from "classic disco" and a maraca in the left channel.....the 45 doesn't have the tambourine at all....or at least i can't hear it with the significant surface noise on mt vinyl 45.....anybody else want to chime in.....pat, could you review the cds again to see if any of them have the tambourine.... |
