No CD of the mono is extant that I am aware of. Only the 45 single has this mix. I own the original 45 on the Stang label from 1970. Never heard a Stereo mix of this tune that sounded right. Many have buried vocals or phase issues.

KentT,
So true. After having recently been sent a 45 dub, the mix on the vocal there is rather dry, whereas the CDs I have the 45 length on (Rhino Soul Hits and R&B 1970), the vocal is bathed in reverb. As I posted before, I think the best stereo mix is on the Rhino Best Of. So, was the reverb vocal on the original stereo LP ("Not on the Outside, But on the Inside, Strong!"), and did the Rhino Best Of remix the song to sound more like the 45? Edited by davidclark |
