Not much controversy with this one.
The Columbia disc Rock Of The '80s (1988) used a high-generation tape source, and sounds really muffled. Avoid this one. One year later, Columbia's Big Ones (1989) used a fresh new analog transfer, and this one sounds pretty great. Most of the compilations out there use the same analog transfer as Big Ones:
I don't know what the original CD release of Get Lucky sounded like, but I came across a remaster, which is way too loud and sounds pretty bad. There's a differently EQ'd digital clone of the Get Lucky remaster on Madacy's Rock On 1982 Vol. 2 (2005) - avoid both of these. My pick: Columbia's Big Ones (1989) |

There's a lot of crap on the radio, but there's only one Crap From The Past.
