can anyone tell me where i can find the cassingle version of the song "born to roll" by masta ace.........the cdr copy i have has the song starting immediately with a drum beat while the cassingle version starts with a synch note for about a half second or so..........it's possible that that synth note is a carryover from the preceding song..........can anyone confirm which cd in the db has this synth intro

Ed, I have the promo single of this song, which has the synth note before the drums come in. This version is also available on Waxing Off, a Delicious Vinyl compilation; however, it is unedited on this CD.

I need to bump ths topic up again as I have now obtained the cassette single of "Born To Roll" and have several questions. First there is one offending word "s***" at 2:48 that is scrambled on the cassette single but oddly enough not on the "clean" version of the original cd "Sittin' On Chrome" Delicious Vinyl 32873 whch is very unusual. I do hear the synth introduction on the cassette single and cannot find that introduction on any cd in the database. The censored version only appears on two cd's and unfortunately both of those cd's have every song segued together (Cold Front 6146 and Beast 53182) but again they do not contain the proper introduction

Aaron says this introduction is on one of two cd's titled "Waxing Off", Delicous vinyl 71820 and Rhino 74323 but it is not on either of my copies. So Aaron can you give the exact record label, catalog number and matrix number of your cd with the 45 introduction?

Finally can you also pass along the dj cd single information as to various versions, running times and censored vs uncensored versions?

Hi, Pat. When I get home, I'll pull out my Waxing Off compilation to check for the introduction. I should've been more clear in my post, as I meant that the version of "Born To Roll" on that disc is the remixed single version and not the original album version. (More on that below.) I don't know if the compilation is missing the half second synth note on the intro or not.

To my knowledge, the original pressing of Slaughtahouse did not include "Born To Roll." The original version of this song is called "Jeep Ass Niguh." (It has the same lyrics but a different vocal take and a drastically different backing track.) Because they added the song to later pressings, this might explain why even your censored version of the album doesn't have a clean version of "Born To Roll."

I will also pass along the details of my promo CD when I get home. I can tell you for sure that it is a non-described 1-track promo. There is no mention of "clean version" or any version for that matter. The promo CD is definitely censored, though.

Also, there are a two words reversed (scrambled) on the censored version. The "s" word that Pat mentions above, and the "n" word shortly after at 2:55.

The promo CD catalog number is PRCD 5470. It has a listed time of 4:13 and an actual time of 4:14. Also, Pat, after checking my Waxing Off compilation, it also has the opening synth note clipped off.
