my commercial 45 issued as cypress 1420 does not state a version on the label but does list a run time of 3:21 and is identical to the full length lp/cd version....my commercial cassingle which has the same version on it as the 45, has a different catalog number...the cassingle catalog number is cypress 0020.....i only bring this up because on ocassion the single formats will have differing catralog numbers....

The catalog number on the 45 is part of A&M's numbering system. The only suggestion I can offer is that perhaps this was originally issued (on cassette only) at a time when A&M wasn't yet handling Cypress' distribution, then after A&M picked it up they issued it as a 45 with their own number, but kept the original Cypress number for the cassette.
Ed's uncovered some interesting stuff on the differences between 45s/cassette singles of the same release. Just on 1989 releases, we've recently seen: --A case where the cassette single has a second B-side not on the 45, but uses the same catalog number. --A case where the 45 and cassette single have identical content and catalog numbers but completely different picture sleeves. --A case where the 45 and cassette single have identical content but use catalog numbers from two different catalog numbering systems. |

I recently bought the old import CD single. It's the only CD appearance of the B-side, "Where is She?" by Blue Future, which was Michael Damien's brother's band.

also, during the 1989-1990 change over period from 45 to cassingle formats, there were quite a few times where the versions on the different formats were different as well....meaning...the 45 and cassingle had the same catalog number, BUT the versions contained on each where different.....i'm currently reviewing 1989 and will list all the instances when i'm done.....
