Interesting, Bill. I'm not sure any of us were aware of that, so you just brought up some great new information!

I know this is an old thread and was probably covered before but the Moon Shadow DJ 45 is stereo/mono and both sides contain a different mix than the lp in several ways, most noticable is a doubling of the first two "Moonshadow Moonshadows" near the beginning of the song, and a lack of reverb on the second last "Moonshadow Moonshadow" at the end of the song.

Picked up a near mint stock 45 of Moon Shadow. Thanks everyone for your analysis. Another one off the list! (Gee, that statement never gets old!)

Updating John's original "Moon Shadow"/"Moonshadow" post: I can confirm that the 45 version was definitely available in the 1977 revision of A&M's Forget Me Nots reissue 45 series, identifiable by its green-and-orange-stripes-with-finger label design. This reissue (A&M 8547) is titled "Moonshadow." As this is the only reissue copy I have, I cannot confirm whether or not the 45 version was a part of either the earlier "spectacles" logo Forget Me Nots or the later Memories reissue series.

BTW, the quickest way to determine the LP/45 difference is during the acoustic guitar intro. The LP version has the guitar panned from right to center, then left before the vocal starts. The 45 intro sounds much more natural, with the guitar in stereo on both channels and no panning.
