CRTP (Ron G) sent me the single version of "Never Surrender" by Corey Hart and I'm hearing a slight glitch at the (1:06) mark that I don't hear on the longer album version. I believe that Ron's source is Sounds Of The Eighties Vol. 23 1984-85 on the Time-Life label. So, does anybody else have the shorter 45 version and if so, do you hear this glitch at the (1:06) mark? I'd like to get a copy without the glitch, if possible, or am I just hearing things???

Paul, I must have recreated the single version at some
point but I only have it as a 320 bitrate mp3.

That's odd Paul. I have that disc and I do not hear a glitch at that point in the song.

Good ears, Paul!

With headphones, I can hear a small dropout in both channels around 1:06. I didn't notice it when listening in speakers, though.

I don't have the 45 version on any other CDs, so I can't tell if there's a problem with the 45 master tape, or the mastering for the Time-Life disc.
There's a lot of crap on the radio, but there's only one Crap From The Past.

Glad I'm not hearing things! So, does anybody here have one of the other CDs that contains the single version and if so, does it have the glitch? It's one of those things, once I hear it, I can't un-hear it.

I have three copies of the single version: A needle drop of the 45, a
copy from the TM Century GoldDisc, and a copy from an unidentified
source. I cannot hear any glitch at 1:06. Either my copies don't have
them or my hearing is shot (which is entirely possible too!)

I listened to the actual 45 and don't hear the glitch.

The database labels them "45 version" and "LP version." Are they "versions" or are they just "lengths?" To my ears it just sounds like an early fade. Am I missing something?

Gene - It's one edit and an early fade.

The edit is around 1:41 and deletes 16 beats from the LP version. I'm not sure exactly where the edit is (downbeat? snare?), and can't analyze things right now because I'm at work.

Hope that helps for now.

Ron, you're right!! (Also, I've been playing just an early fade of the LP version!) :-o

On my copy, I took it out starting in the beat at 1:40.5 and ending at 1:49.7... this was after trimming the silence at the end. I based this on a YouTube video that I found but the quality is too poor for me to be confident exactly where the edit point is on the original single.

I learn something new every day... :-)
