While this song wasn't a top 40 hit, Wikipedia claims it became a "radio hit" and it also became infamous as the intro music for conservative talk show host Rush Limbaugh.
The song first appeared as the B-side to "Back On The Chain Gang" in 1982, running 4:25. Two years later it arrived on the LP "Learning To Crawl," running approximately 5:14. The good news is, if you want to duplicate the "single edit," the 4:25 version is just an early fade of the LP version. The fade runs about 9 seconds, from 4:16 to 4:25. The single version is available on the European & Brazilian 2-disc "Best Of The Pretenders / Break Up The Concrete" release from 2008 on Rhino Records. In 2009 & 2010 the Best Of collection was released in 256 kbps AAC (lossy) format on digital services. This collection ("The Best Of Pretenders") should not be confused with "The Very Best Of The Pretenders" (1984), "The Singles" (1987), or "Greatest Hits" (2000). |

Great track, great album, great band!
If their singles discography on Wikipedia is correct, then yes, it reached #11 on Billboard's Top Rock Tracks chart in 1982. Edited by EternalStatic |
