Although the database has no notation, the song "There Goes Another Love Song" by Outlaws runs 2:51 on the 45 and is an edit of the LP version.

Is there about :12 edited out to make it a 2:51 run time, Aaron? If you know of the edit point, please let us know...

Aaron, I just pulled out and timed my commercial 45 of this song. My copy, however, has both a listed and and actual time of (2:48). FYI, my deadwax info is "2185-S1".

Jim, I'm probably off by a few seconds, because the edit I created is at the same speed as the CD version. I only made the edit, but I did not change the pitch at all. Your 45 probably runs about a 0.5% faster to accomodate for the shorter time.
Until recently, I generally didn't make any pitch adjustments unless it was a change of about 1% or more. My reasoning for this was that tape machines don't tend to be exact, and so a pitch change as small as 0.5% could very likely be due to the transferring of the song from one master to another, rather than an intended change by the producer/engineer. Also, this one by the Outlaws was one I did over a year ago, so I do not recall where the edit point is. |

Well, as it turns out, the CD with my 45 edit has a misprinted time on the insert. And it's my own timing error! Go figure... I accidentally included the two seconds of dead space between tracks in the timing for each song, so the actual run time of my re-created edit runs (2:49)---much closer to Jim's actual (2:48) 45 timing. I guess there's no pitch issue after all!

To make your own edit, remove 1:18.3 to 1:32.4 of the LP version.
