I don't know if this actually is a glitch at all, for that reason I decided not to include it on the "CD mastering flaws/glitches" thread.

But it always seemed rather strange to me, and this place full of sharp ears is the place to share it at!

If you listen to Madonna's "Material Girl" album version from any source, at 2:24 right after she goes "Ow!" for the second time, there is a sound that occurs only that one time throughout the entire song, and it always sounded to me like a glitch.

I can think of a couple of reasons to question my perception :

1.That which sounds like a glitch to me, is still present on the 2001 "Like A Virgin" album remastered version of the track. Whether that strictly means the glitch if it is, would have be taken out, I don't know.

2.At that exact moment on the video, she slaps one of the dancers with her fan, so that sound certainly did not go unnoticed.

Anyway, it may just have been an esthetic choice, who knows.

If you did not notice it and have a few minutes to give it a listen, give me your thoughts!

I think it's on purpose. It it were a glitch, i'm sure someone would have removed it by now, especially if it appears on all copies of the song. Maybe Madonna was slapping her bottom or something. Nothing like a good spanky! :)

Anyone know Nile Rodgers so he tells us what his thinking was? : p

And heads up to Mary Lambert (the video's director) for thorough use of the song's mix to her advantage!

Well, One can always email him. I've tried, but he's a hard man to get in contact with.

However, he is a very meticulous producer. And, Madonna is very exacting as well. So, two perfectionists probably would never allow a glitch to pass through.
