I don't know why I didn't think of sharing this before. For those of you on Facebook, there's a FB group called "Lost Pop Hits (M.I.A.)" where a poster named Russ Lindway describes in detail the differences between single edits vs. their album versions. One song per day for 500 days. Right now he's up to 354. Today, he did the #1 hit "The Tide Is High". (His posts really aren't about lost pop hits at all). He also posts these on his own feed. It's really worth reading and it's the kind of detail we'd read on this forum.
I'll see if I can find links to share here.

OK, hopefully these links work (especially for non Facebook members):
Russ Lindway https://www.facebook.com/russ.lindway?mibextid=wwXIfr" rel="nofollow - https://www.facebook.com/russ.lindway?mibextid=wwXIfr
Lost Pop Hits (M.I.A.) https://www.facebook.com/groups/114915975220106/" rel="nofollow - https://www.facebook.com/groups/114915975220106/
"The Tide Is High" link on that page https://www.facebook.com/groups/114915975220106/permalink/23988851010733268/" rel="nofollow - https://www.facebook.com/groups/114915975220106/permalink/23988851010733268/ ?
My recommendation is to go to Russ's page and scroll through it. There's a much higher concentration of these "album versions vs. single edits" there than on the general "Lost Pop Hits..." page, which include a lot of other people posting about random things....although that's a fun read, too.

Unfortunately, you need to be a signed-in Facebook member to view those groups.

I have abandoned social networks for good so I'll be missing those. Sounds interesting though. But I'm not coming back, lol :)
