A top 40 hit in 1979 (and not in the DB but needs to be as its a great disco hit!) So Aaron here is the breakdown of what is available to add to the DB now. I'm going to be posting the missing entries one by one so stay tuned.

So until we figure out whether the LP version is 3:47 or the label is correct and it is 4:01 Aaron can't properly label this and add it to the DB. I cant find an LP dub on youtube that isnt a CD or digital....

So far here is what I know:

Based on this 45 dub, the 45 version runs 3:37

It can be found only on two import CD's, neither of which I have:

and

As for the 12'' versions I can confirm (thanks to DJ Paul T) one runs 5:30 and the other runs 7:58.

I can't confirm the LP time. It says on discogs 4:01 but the digital LP on Thighs and Whispers is 3:47 based on the 1995 remaster.

Otherwise in the US, the 45 version did not make CD. Nor did either 12'' short and long.

Both the original CD release and the 1995 reissue of Thighs And Whispers have a 3:47 length.

Yes but does the original LP have a 3:47 running time. That's what I am asking since the label says 4:01

I only have the album on CD, not vinyl, so I'm unable to check.

My notes from about twenty years ago state that in comparing the 3:37 45 version to the 3:47 CD version, the 45 is not simply an early fade. There is an edit near the end of the song.

Edit: I see now that there was an earlier thread on this topic in which Aaron states that the end of the 45 has some unique audio that is not on the CD version at all. It is not in fact an edit.

Paul C. There is some unique audio at the end if I recall. Once the original vinyl comes and is dubbed and we compare it with the 45 and what is currently available in LP digitally/on cd that should help. Will post once it is all in for review.

Based on a dub that Rich sent to me, the vinyl LP and the full-length CD are the same version running 3:47. The printed time on the LP of 4:01 is not correct.

Rich also sent me the version from Disco Vaults 2, and while the run time matches the US 45, this an early fade of the LP version. Furthermore, this CD has the song dubbed from vinyl.

Regarding the 45 version, the short segment that is not found on the LP version comes from the 12” version at about 3:37.

For those wondering, the 45 version has an edit near the end that removes 7.5 seconds of the LP version. Then, about halfway through the fade out, the LP version vocal has Bette singing “will make ya feel real good.” On the 45, you can hear an obvious splice, and that corresponding section has Bette singing “these married men.” This is the section pulled from the longer 12” version. My hunch is that the 12” version is the full performance (no obvious mix differences) that was edited down for the LP version and (slightly differently) for the 45.

Now you should be able to properly list this in the database. Whew! Thanks Aaron.
