Well, since I seem to be in "Meat Loaf mode" right now, I guess I'll go ahead and bring up another related topic! The database indicates that DJ CD single copies of "I'd Do Anything for Love (But I Won't Do That)" contains the "A Little Bit Longer" version running 6:36 and the "Longer Still" version running 7:38. Meanwhile, the song appears on two CDs that are listed in the database as follows:
(S) (6:38) Hip-O B0005013 Power Ballads (neither the 45 nor LP version)
(S) (7:39) MCA 088112810 Bat Out Of Hell II (Deluxe Edition) (neither the 45 nor LP version)
Pat, if you have a promo CD single copy of "I'd Do Anything for Love..." in your possession, could you please check and see if the "Little Bit Longer" version is the same as the one on the Power Ballads CD, and if the "Still Longer" version is identical to the one on the Bat Out of Hell II (Deluxe Edition) disc? If the answer is yes to either or both, then the database should probably be updated to reflect that these CDs contain specific radio versions.

I do not have the promo cd single on this song so I can't compare the various versions for you.

That's ok, Pat. I'll see if I can get hold of a DJ CD single copy of "I'd Do Anything for Love...". I'd almost be willing to bet that the two CDs in my initial post contain radio versions found on the promo single.

Meat Loaf-"I'd Do Anything For Love (But I Won't Do That)" (MCA5P-2637)
1-Single Edit (listed time 5:09; actual time 5:13)
2-A Little Bit Longer (Than The Single Edit) (6:36) (6:37)
3-Longer Still (But Not As Long As The Album Version) (listed and actual 7:38)
4-The Album Version (11:55) (11:56)
As with "Free Fallin'" 3 years earlier, about 6 weeks after the 1st promo CD single came in, MCA sent us a 2nd promo CD single, containing "Live" versions. I feel I should include this information as well, since this was also issued during its "current" chart run. These live versions were especially popular on AOR. This 2nd promo is MCA5P-2898.
1-Live-Top 40 Version (5:25 listed and actual)
2-Live-AOR Version (5:27 listed and actual)
3-Unplugged (listed 4:10; actual 4:09)
Todd, I believe both of your statements, regarding the "Power Ballads" and "Bat Out Of Hell" (Deluxe Edition) version designations, are correct.

According to the back of the outer plastic slip sleeve that packages the Meat Loaf Bat out of Hell II (Deluxe Edition) CD, the version of "I'd Do Anything for Love..." running 7:39 is listed as the "Longer But Not As Long As the Album Version". So it does indeed appear that this is the same version as Track 3 on your promo CD, Jim.

The database info for this song is truncated. It says "(dj copies of this cd single run (5:14) the )" [sic].

Has anybody ever tried make the 5:14 edit? Obviously you can't due to the mix
differences in the intro.

I believe the 5:14 single edit is readily available on
several CD's.

I'm totally off-topic here, please forgive me but I had to share this in the wake of Meatloaf passing away.
I never much cared for this song in the least. It was a little joke between my wife and me when Celine Dion released her single, "It's All Coming Back To Me Now."
We were at a DJ gig around the time Celine released the song. I had a request from a guest to play it in the time leading up to the beginning of the wedding reception.
It was being played all over the radio at the time and I told my wife I wasn't going to play it because it sounded exactly like a song that Meatloaf would do. (Hated it!)
After a week or so, she mentioned that I wasn't too far off in my description, as both songs were written by Jim Steinman. To say the least, I felt vindicated.
Sad though about Meatloaf. As is done in our family whenever mentioning the deceased, "Rest His Soul".

Meat also recorded his own version of "It's All Coming Back To Me Now". Personally, I think Celine sang it better.

I have the UK CD single (724389213522) and it has a run time of (7:53) when I loaded it into my computer.
