pat
the db states that all the cd versions are the full cd/lp version indicating the 45 version is different....my cassingle issued as virgin 98900 contains a non-described version which is identical to the full cd/lp version.....do you have the promo 45 as your piont of reference or is this another case of 2 single versions??

Ed, the dj cd single contains the "single edit" (3:57), the "original single" (4:14) and the "less guitar mix" (4:15) so it is quite a surprise to hear that the cassette single is the same as the LP. It is interesting to note that Joel Whitburn lists the running time as (4:01) so perhaps Paul Haney can jump in and explain the source for the (4:01) running time.

I just timed the cassette single and it fades out to (4:13). The fade-out is pretty long, so I guess that explains the (4:01).

as i've stated before.....almost all cassingles run fast and that would explain why whitburns books have shorter (ie quicker) run times.....after carefully reviewing all cassingle issued between 1989 and 1995 vrs their cd counterparts, my guess would be that 85% of the cassingles i've reviewed run fast.....i WOULD NOT trust whitburns running time during this era......it looks like he timed the actual elapsed run time of the cassingle, but what he didn't do is a/b them to get the true running times of the songs on cd, which is what i'm currently doing....my guess regarding "candy" is that this is an example of what i'm talking about.....if you let the cassingle run versus a timer, it'll probably run about 4:01....

Can anyone provide the edit points to recreate the 3:57 version of Candy, please? Thanks!
