After listening to the vinyl 45 and the versions from the two CDs, the
45 version is just a fade of the LP version. Just make a gradual fade
from 4:10 to 4:27. Pat lists these as LP versions instead of LP
lengths because the LP version has a definite ending and the 45
fades out.

i believe the 45 is an edit of the full cd version....

Are you sure? Because there are certainly no edits before the final 20
to 30 seconds of the 45. Where would the edit be?

The vinyl 45 running 4:27 is just an early fade of the LP length. There are no edits in it. Using the Rock of the 80's Volume 15 CD (Priority 53754), I have simulated the early 45 fade thanks to digital editing software technology. The thing I never could stand about my CD source though is the fact that the song's midrange sounds so incredibly harsh at louder volume levels. I must have spent several hours tweaking the EQ just to get everything to sound good.
By the way, I reported a long time ago that some commercial 45 copies have a time of 3:58 stated on the label. Was it ever determined if these pressings contained the short edit found on DJ 45 copies, or do they run 4:27 just like all other commercial copies?

Has anyone tried to recreate the short 45 edit from the promo? As I am attempting to create it, it seems that it either can't be done or it requires some very tricky editing.... There is s very strange edit towards the end of the song that I don't think can be replicated.
Can anyone provide some feedbsck?
I can send a dub if anyone needs a copy.

The promo 45 version cannot be edited from the LP version, as there is unique audio at 3:14 of this version. Rather than making a straight edit, they went back to the multi-tracks to create a seamless transition at the edit point. If anyone needs a perfect re-created version using audio from the 45, I have already done the work.
