Pat:
I notice the LL Cool J's "Around the Way Girl" runs 4:02-4:04 on all CDs in the database, except on the Def Jam's Greatest Hits disc (Def Jam 314536377), which is shown with a 3:56 time. I'm curious as to what accounts for this time difference? (early fade? different speed? edit?)
Also, can anyone confirm if the commercial 45 release of "Around the Way Girl" is identical to its LP counterpart?

My commercial CD single has the LP version as the lead track, identical to what's found on Mama Said Knock You Out. Here's the info:
Def Jam/Columbia 73610
1. LP version (4:05 printed; 4:04 actual)
2. Untouchables Remix (4:32 printed; 4:47 actual)
3. Instrumental (of the Untouchables Remix - 3:51 printed; 3:50 actual)
4. Murdergram - Live (3:52 printed & actual)

I just compared the version on Def Jam's Greatest Hits to the version on the single. The version on the compilation shortens the reverse cymbal by about a half second. Rather than a smooth fade in, it starts rather abrubtly, and the fade in reverse cymbal is very short.
Although both versions start fading out at the same point (around 3:45), the version on DJGH fades much quicker, while the single version has a longer fade.
