Here's some info on the DJ CD singles for "Rico Suave" by Gerardo:
PRCD-3679
1. Spanglish Version (4:09)
2. Spanish Version (4:19)
I cannot confirm the run times for the above, because I only own the following:
PRCD-3800
1. The More English Edit (3:29)
2. Mo Ritmo Dance Version (7:15)
The printed times are the actual run times.

Aaron: Just pulled and listened to my copy of PRCD-3679. All details except one agree with what you show above: My Cut 2 (Spanish Version) has both a listed and actual time of (4:17), not (4:19). FYI, Cut 1's actual time IS the same as its listed time, (4:09).

Thanks, Jim. The (4:19) was a typo on my part. It should've been (4:17).

I believe "The More English Edit" was the version that received airplay on the weekly American Top 40 radio program when I listened to it back when I was living in Germany. Do any of the versions of "Rico Suave" on the above promo CD singles appear on commercial single copies? Or is the commercial single identical to the CD/LP version?

The cassette single has both the "Spanish Version" and the "Spanglish Version". A US 7-inch vinyl single does not exist.

yes and no. The original single wasn't on 7". In 1993 (?) Atlantic released a oldies 7" single, which paired the spanglish version of Rico Suave with We Want The Funk on Atlantic 94940.

The U.S. cassette single claims that the "Spanish Version" is the lead track and the "Spanglish Version" is the second track (both tracks appear on each side), but this is not correct. The "Spanglish Version" is in fact the first track and the "Spanish Version" is the second track.

The database contains the DJ CD single info for Gerardo's "Rico Suave". As a supplement, I thought I'd also report that, according to Ed (a.k.a. edtop40), the lead track on the cassette single has an actual run time of 4:09. And as Paul C points out, this is the "Spanglish Version" (which I believe is also the album version) and not the "Spanish Version" as stated on the cassette single sleeve. Meanwhile, the "Spanish Version", which is incorrectly labeled as the "Spanglish Version" has an actual run time of 4:17.

i just listened to my cassingle which has listed the
"spanish version" as the first track and the "spanglish
version" as the second track......the "spanish version"
contains some english......while the "spanglish version"
contains NO english......go figure......could this possibly
be the first cassingle to be mislabeled?

Thanks, Ed. Am I correct that the single version (a.k.a. the "Spanglish Version") is identical to the album version?

Was this mix really necessary? The hack who did this edit should be shot! (I keed, I keed!). But seriously, this re-edit is so bad. They basically took out all the Spanish
words. It should be called The Less Spanish Edit, as it really does't have additional English lyrics/vocals.
AWFUL.
There additional U.K. mixes by none other than Joey Negro, but they do not even appear on the U.K. CD Maxi, just the U.K. Vinyl Maxi. Boo.
