My commercial 45, which is stereo, has a listed time of (3:52), but an actual time of (3:57).

Is the LP version considered to be from George Harrison's Concert for Bengladesh album? If so, has this album ever been issued on CD in the U.S.? (The title is not currently listed in the database, which strikes me as odd that a George Harrison LP has never seen the light of day as a domestic CD release!)

The single "Bangla-Desh" is a studio recording that was recorded a few days before the actual concert took place. This single didn't appear on an album until The Best of George Harrison in 1976.

Todd, according to Amazon, "The Concert For Bangladesh" was first issued
on a domestic CD, using its original LP cover, in 1991. Then, in 2005, a re-
mastered CD was issued for it, this time with a picture of Harrison and his
guitar on the cover. This CD release likely just slipped past Mr. Downey. Nice
pickup!

There's no hit singles on that album, so why would it be listed in the database?

Paul, I assumed "a" version of "Bangladesh" would have to have appeared on
that LP, even if it were a live, non-hit version, and that Pat would simply
note that fact, for clarification. Is the song not included on the LP at all? If
not, I just re-learned what happens sometimes, when you "assume!" :)

Yes, a live version of "Bangla-Desh" is on that album. I wasn't aware that Pat was including all "non-hit live" versions in his database. If he is, then I gladly stand corrected!

Thanks, Paul. I would certainly agree that Pat, as a matter of normal
policy, both would not and should not include live versions of hits, since
98% of those versions were recorded years later. But, given the fact that
the "Bangla-Desh" 45 and the LP were both issued in 1971, I found Todd's
initial question in this case to be quite valid. Him thinking that the 1971
hit version of the song could very likely be included on a 1971 album that
the hitmaker was the "mastermind" behind, to me, is not a "reach." I only
remembered myself that Harrison had recorded a studio version of the
song days before the event because your post reminded me of that fact.
(Thanks, Paul!) The concert LP was the initial album appearance for the
track. Given the "exact same year of release" 45/LP situation here, I think
Pat clarifying, in this case, that the hit version isn't the LP version would
be of value to subscribers. But, as always, I will defer to Mr. Downey's
judgement...

I brought up my initial question about George Harrison's "Bangla-Desh" because the database shows the song's lone CD appearance with a "45 version" comment. Therefore, I simply drew from this that an LP version exists somewhere and was trying to determine its origin. However, Paul is saying the hit studio version never appeared on an LP until The Best of George Harrison in 1976. So if that's the case, then the "45 version" comment for the lone database entry really isn't needed, is it? Or does Pat perhaps consider the "live" version on the Concert for Bangladesh LP to be an official LP version?
