| My commercial 45, which is mono, has a listed time of (4:35), but an actual time of (4:27). Current database CDs for this run between (4:30) and (4:36). Being a 4-and-a-half-minute-long song and all, I don't think it is unreasonable to conclude that the 45 has simply been sped up, which more than likely could account for the entire time difference in this case. |

| For a four and a half minute song to be 9 seconds shorter due to being sped up, that's a really fast speeding up, and even the voice would be noticably higher pitched. Can anyone verify if their 45 is sped up that much, or if the CDs in the database are the 45 version plus a few seconds (e.g. 3 to 9 seconds)? |

My commercial single fades out sooner than the version I have on the CD
box Citizen Steely Dan: 1972-1980. The speed seems to be the same. |

| "Reeling in the Years" came off of Steely Dan's Can't Buy a Thrill LP from 1973 on the ABC record label. Does anyone have the song's actual vinyl LP run time? I would imagine it must be 4:33-4:34 given that this is how long the song runs on the two CD pressings of Can't Buy a Thrill. |

my commercial 45 states a run time of 4:35 but actually on runs 4:26...if you fade out the 4:35 lp version from 4:07 to 4:26 you'll effectively re-create the true 45 version.....it is NOT a speed issue ------------- edtop40 |

I gotta pull this back. I recently found my old 45, and, while I did not check the mono/stereo, I did find that my commercial copy runs exactly the same length as the album. The reason I though the 45 was faded a bit sooner is because my needle drop to tape from 1973 was embedded in my mind, and I realized that I, for some reason cut off the last few seconds. ------------- |
