According to the database, CD entries of Ohio Player's "Skin Tight" with the comment: (45 version) range in length from 2:48 to 2:58. Can anyone provide the actual vinyl 45 run time for the benefit of folks interested in obtaining the correct 45 length on CD?

Todd, my commercial 45 has both a listed and actual time of (2:50).

My original Mercury commercial 45 runs exactly 2:50 from the first note to the last.

Dredging this up from the long ago times...
I have always been a sucker for a great bass hook. This song is one of the shining examples of that bass just killing it from the beginning!
One thing that I also have wondered about "Skin Tight" was, if the CD and vinyl versions were transferred from the same mix. I don't think I can remember a version that was played on the radio being any different. Yet,
I have a few copies on different CDs that all seem to have the same little tick at 1:35. It sounds like an edit point that didn't quite include all of the word "Skin." It sounds more like "Kin" with the 'Sss' dropped off
at the edit point.
So my question is if anyone knows if there was a slightly longer version that they trimmed to make the 45 version? Or, am I just lucky enough to have all my copies cut from the same source? I'm guessing that there might be
a 12" version for this too, yet I haven't ever seen one in anybody's collection or store.

To Dave:
Both the original 45 AND the longer,
unedited LP version had that punch-in
error 'Kin Tight'.
As a kid I used to sing it that way...
First album I bought by the band.

Too early for a 12" single!

Andy, that's some useful information! Now I need to see if they issued the album on CD and see about picking it up. (Just to hear the longer version!)
I've been seriously considering making an edit of my own on that one. Sometimes I can live with mistakes in a recording. This one though, I have to try and fix it for me.

Mercury/Polygram has put that album on cd in the 90's
and it's still in print.
You can pick up this twofer from BGO in the UK coupled
with the Fire Lp.

Japan has twice issued a box set of Ohio Players
complete Mercury albums. Lots of options here with
plenty of hits that were big on R&B radio.
