Taylor Swift is back on the pop charts for the 2nd time with her hit "Teardrops On My Guitar". Already charting higher than its first appearance, I understand that the new charting version is a remix. Can anyone confirm this and if so, which remix as Itunes shows a "pop single mix", a "remix" and a "radio remix".

To further confuse the issue, I believe the original country charting radio single was remixed from the original CD also. The pop single remix of course is different from both.

Pat:

Even more confusion, lol. My JonesTM Prime Cuts Disc has this track listed as a New Mix/Radio Edit. Looks like they serviced the Pop Mix on their GoldDiscs.

I believe the "New Mix/Radio Edit" is the remix targeted for Country radio.

To make life even MORE confusing, there is a 45 of the song, but it came out in 2007, so it's not the remix for pop radio. There is no information on the 45 as to timing or mix.

I know of at least three versions of "Teardrops...:"

1- album version - country sounding & has the line "I laugh 'cause it's so damn funny"

2- radio remix - country sounding, but a different mix (additional overdubs) & has the line "I laugh 'cause it's just so funny"

3- pop single mix - doesn't sound country at all & has the line "I laugh 'cause it's just so funny" (We're playing this version on our station.) This remix may also have an uncensored version.

The newest mix is the Pop Radio Mix, according to the iTunes release dates. It came out 11/27/07. The original Radio Remix was released 9/11/07.

Though the version everyone's buying is the album version. The two remixes aren't even in the top 100 on iTunes.

I just listened to the iTunes samples, and I've updated my above post to include the correct version names next to the descriptions.

This is a good song, but it really isn't all that country in the traditional sense and in fact, her entire album is full of pop sounds being promoted as country.

The Pop Single Mix is what I heard on AT40 this morning.

To update this thread, even though there's no indication in the database, I believe the version running 2:57 is the Pop Mix, and the version running 3:21 probably is the radio remix Aaron eluded to (#2 in his post.)

Did anyone ever buy the Pop Single Mix of this song on iTunes, the second single? I never did, and now I want the cover art -- I hadn't noticed they were slightly different. If someone has it, can you send me the .bmp file for the artwork? I can tell you how to copy it if you don't know how.

In addition to the 3 versions mentioned above, Joe Bermudez was hired to do a pop remix of the song. The label didn't decide to use it in the end.

Coming back to this 10 years later, for reference I wish to note that the 45 I mentioned above contains the album version with the "so damn funny" lyric.
