my cassingle issued as chrysalis 24810 contains, on the A-side, a non described version which runs 4:05.....the version from the cd

(S) (4:06) Chrysalis 21929 3 Years, 5 Months & 2 Days In The Life Of

has the previous track overlapping the intro to the song "mr wendal"...the only place i've found the correct cassingle version without this overlap is on the commercial cd single....this should be noted in the db...

At the risk of being nit-picky, the catalog number is actually 24810 (see to the right of the bar code, and on the face of the cassette itself). Its "translation" into the bar code is a bit weird, with the "2" separated from the rest, but the format code on the end ("4") not separated.

I guess I could file the following under the "nit-picker" category as well, but the database currently shows the spelling of the aforementioned Arrested Development song as "Mr. Wendall". Unless it was printed this way on some commercial single pressings, the correct song title spelling should be listed as "Mr. Wendal".

It's worth noting how very rare it is to find a spelling error in the database, which is a true testament to Pat's careful attention and dedication to detail. I'd like to commend Mr. Downey for all his fine work and for continually being so open to our input.

I am wondering if anyone else recalls an uptempo radio
version of Mr. Wendal getting airplay during the song's
chart run. Shortly after the original radio version of
Mr. Wendal hit the airwaves in New England, a "radio
version" of the Perfecto mix started getting airplay on
various CHR stations. I've never found a promo cd with
this edit. It's possible it was an in-house edit that
was circulated or a version on one the radio comp discs
(Hitmakers, Top Hits, etc) . Anyone have any knowledge of
this? This is a link to the full length perfecto mix on
Youtube.

I just checked the Top Hits U.S.A. site. It looks like they
serviced the LP version in 1992. Run time on their site is
4:02, which is 4 seconds shorter than Jim's LP version on
the promo CD single.

The version you commented on may be a re-creation done by one of the remix services. Unrelated to Mr. Wendal, I have a version of 2 Unlimited's "Get Ready For This" that was kind-of reworked,
to the point of it almost becoming a whole different song. It's really nicely done. It appears on Discotech Volume 30, and has been a favorite remix for a long time.

Both of these versions were included in ABC Radio Networks' syndicated "Hot Mix" program shows at the time that they were popular. It's possible that this is where
you first heard them, and it's likely that stations lifted these versions from the Hot Mix CDs to play outside of their usual Saturday-Night-Mixshow timeslots.

Thank you all for the info. I used to have this remix
version on a cassette tape (recorded off the radio). That
tape is long gone so I have no way of trying to recreate
the version. I'll look into some of the remix services
from that time period and see what comes up.
