Although not in the database, this song peaked at #34 in Billboard in 9/78. My commercial 45 has a listed time of (3:29), but an actual time of (3:21). FYI, the only domestic CD that this song currently appears on, to my knowledge, is the V/A CD, "Lost Hits Of The 70's", catalog # EMI-Capitol Music Special Markets 19545.

Yes, Jim that's the only domestic CD with the song. There's only 1 import CD that I know of that also has the song -- an import Cheryl Ladd compilation CD from Japan.

Jim, do you have the Lost Hits of the 70's CD? I have the Cheryl Ladd comp from Japan (don't laugh!). The sound quality on that CD is not the best and I am wondering if the EMI comp has a better sound.

I have the Lost Hits disc and every track sounds good including the
Cheryl Ladd song.

When picking which of the 2 to use for my collection, I listened closely to both and chose the "Lost Hits" CD because it sounds better - only to realize years later that it's actually 6 seconds shorter than the one on the Japanese Cheryl Ladd CD (I wish I would have checked for timing at the time). At some point, I'll remaster the Japanese version to have the full length song and sounding good. (But at 6 seconds, it's not a huge priority on the "to do" list.)

Cheryl Ladd's self titled 1978 album has been released domestically:

Hey all - I got my first CD from Gold Legion today, the reissue of Teri DeSario's 1978 album, Pleasure Train. Apparently Gold Legion is working with the special marketing divisions of labels to create these reissues. UMG issued this CD release, and it sounds like it's from master tapes. This reissue is great because it contains the single version of "Ain't Nothin' Gonna Keep Me From You". The 12" version of that song has been available on a few CDs before, but this version hasn't. How that awesome song (written and produced by Barry Gibb, on one of the hottest labels of the time) missed the top 40 is a mystery to me.
I'm waiting on a shipment of Suzi Lane's 1979 LP and Cory Daye's 1979 LP from Gold Legion. If anyone needs/wants the single versions of "Ain't Nothin'..." or Cory's chart single, "Pow Wow", just let me know.

That's great news Frank. I'm a big fan of that Teri
DeSario song. I'm ordering my copy pronto.

Gold Legion seems to be specializing in old disco. That's what most of their releases are. The Teri DeSario CD comes with great liner notes, including interviews with producers Ron Albert and Albhy Galuten.

That's great, Frank, glad you found something there! Meanwhile, I am still waiting for that Cheryl Ladd CD to become available - it's back ordered. Who knew there was such a demand for Cheryl Ladd? LOL!

| Never knew until now that this song was written and
recorded by Brenda Russell (who charted about a year after
Cheryl did with another song she wrote "So Good, So
Right"). BTW, did Gold Legion ever finally release the
Cheryl Ladd disc (and if so does "Think It Over" run (3:21)
and sound any good?).

No, the label never released it. And I paid for it 11 months ago.

Me too. And every e-mail made to Gold Legion since, requesting a refund for
it, has been ignored........

I'm going to contact my credit card company and request the refund through them. I'm owed $26 for 2 CDs that Gold Legion never put out (including this one). It's been almost a year since I paid, and I'm just afraid that if this goes beyond a year, I'd likely not get my money back at all (or worse, Gold Legion could go out of business before they release the CDs). If the CDs do eventually get releaesed, I can always order them from Gold Legion, Amazon, or elsewhere.
Something you should consider doing, too, Jim. I'd hate to see you get ripped off by Gold Legion.

Good idea, Gordon. (And congrats to you, my songwriting friend, for your
latest success with that new Melissa Manchester dance track that's charted!)

Jim, I just got the $26 refund from my Credit Card company from the Gold Legion charge consisting of 2 CDs that have never been released (Ladd & Branigan I) - almost a year to the date since I paid for these CDs, I got my refund. I'll bet Mastercard is used to getting complaints about Gold Legion. The Mastercard letter even says this is a "permanent credit" - not one of those temp credits where they have to research the companies first, I suppose. Anyway, you should request your money back through your credit card company, too - especially since Gold Legion didn't refund you.

Gordon, you are so kind to keep me updated. So happy you were
refunded. My only complication is that, since that Gold Legion charge, my
CC company had to issue me a new acct #, due to one of those "retailer
db got hacked" incidents. Now that Gold Legion has clearly been flagged
as a bad business, I will call them tomorrow, and ask if they can trace my
old acct #'s transaction, while crediting my current #. Crossing fingers.
Best wishes to you, my friend, for stellar holidays!

You, too (and to everyone here). Jim, since the new credit card # was issued by the same bank/company as your old credit card #, they should be able to link it. Like me, they'll probably ask you to send in a letter to get the refund - due to the fact that the charge is over 6 months old (that's the "deadline" for over-the-phone claims - at least at Mastercard). My case was a bit unusual, too, because I placed an order for 5 CDs and asked for a refund for TWO (what I didn't receive). I told them the actual dollar amount for those 2 CDs and they refunded me.
BTW, the next time anyone here thinks about ordering from Gold Legion, they might want to "Think It Over".
(I might as well tie this post back to the topic, or at least, title, at hand :)

I bought a Dolly Parton title from them a couple of years
ago that was sourced from vinyl. Judging from the fact they
are also offering titles from Aretha that she has yet to
offically release and some Barbara Mandrell titles that the
masters were allegedly lost in the Universal vault fire,
I'd say with 99.9% certainly that this dealer is dealing
exclusively in vinyl rips.

I've written to that Estonian ebay seller, Ruthem, before - a few times - as I had noticed every CD he sells is one that has never been released from master tape before. He told me all the CDs he sells are ripped from his personal vinyl collection.
So we can change that 99.9% certainty to 100% :)
