Reading this post made me search for Falco's "Vienna Calling" on CD (the "New 86 Mix/Edit"). I found a review on amazon.com that says this mix is available on Falco "Greatest Hits" Buddha 99653 (1999). I'll probably pick up a used copy for myself since I only have this awesome 45 version transferred to CD-R from my vinyl copy!

Mark, this GTR self titled cd is an import cd and that is why it is not listed in the database.

So for those who know I attempt to find every existing Hot 100 position hit across the 1980's digitally (and with help from Aaron and others who have dubbing skills and can edit) have managed to assemble the 1987-1989 annual listings in Whitburn's book with near limited vinyl/ next to no vinyl. In fact those years were easier compared to 1986. The 45 versions are harder to find.
I've been able to with some help able to narrow the search for finishing this year to approximately 30 tracks.
I come to the board in hopes you may spot or assist me in pointing out where on CD these hits exist or confirm that the CD I listed has the 45 version. I've made reference to the position in the rank just so if you have the annual you can easily spot and confirm what I am posting.
234 Jets - Private Number 3:37
This to my knowledge has never made CD. The LP version cannot make this 45.
242 Mick Jagger - Ruthless People 3:38
The LP version has been out on CD for a long time, but it cant be made into the 45.
245 Giuffria - I Must Be Dreaming 4:04
The LP version is all that's out there. Never seen a 4:04 anywhere.
248 Rod Stewart - Another Heartache 4:14
The LP version is all that's out there.
252 Chaka Khan - Love Of A Lifetime 4:12
I have reason to believe that this import disc has it. Can anyone confirm?
https://www.discogs.com/Chaka-Khan-The-Platinum-Collection/master/829757 - https://www.discogs.com/Chaka-Khan-The-Platinum-Collection/m aster/829757
253 Twisted Sister - Leader of the Pack 3:25
The LP and the 45 are different.
262 Don Johnson - Heartache Away 4:07
This disc is an import, but it appears to have the correct version.
https://www.discogs.com/Various-Magic-Music/release/2221500 - https://www.discogs.com/Various-Magic-Music/release/2221500
267 Chaka Khan - Own The Night 4:27
The 4:49 version on the CD Miami Vice Soundtrack does not have the same intro the 45 does.
274 Stevie Nicks - Has Anyone Written Anything For You 4:05
The 4:35 is on Timespace and Stand Back. All Woman 2 is an import that appears to have the closest version I can find:
https://www.discogs.com/Various-All-Woman-2/release/9340533 - https://www.discogs.com/Various-All-Woman-2/release/9340533
277 Queen - One Vision 3:46
Its on the 45 as 3:46, but the 4:00 is all I can find. If anyone has the vinyl and loves Queen speak up.
291 Outfield - Everytime You Cry 4:00
On youtube there is a perfect copy of this edit. There isnt however a CD that has anything but the LP version...
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=y5hZUMLkC1o - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=y5hZUMLkC1o
304 Bob Seger & Silver Bullet- Miami 4:09
Another one where the 45 is nowhere to be found on CD.
309 Wild Blue - Fire With Fire 3:27
the CD for No More Jinx was reissued in 2009 which is probably the LP version as the 45 is labeled "edit"
https://www.discogs.com/Wild-Blue-No-More-Jinx/release/2232638 - https://www.discogs.com/Wild-Blue-No-More-Jinx/release/22326 38
313 Andy Taylor - When The Rain Comes Down 3:47
This appears to have it the Miami Vice II soundtrack. Can anyone confirm?

329 Nick Lowe and His Cowboy Outfit - I Knew The Bride 4:00
Again LP version is all that is out there...
330 Dokken- In My Dreams 4:04
No idea if the Greatest Hits has it. All I can get is the 4:20.
331 Bonnie Tyler - If You Were A Woman 4:14
There is a 3:57 on The Best of Bonnie Tyler on two import comps, could this be it?...

333 Limited Warranty - Victory Line 4:00
The CD of the 5:03 LP came out in 2007 self titled album. Otherwise no luck on the 45 version.
337 Device - Who Says 4:09
The 4:52 LP is on CD. That's it.
339 Klymaxx - The Men All Pause 3:46
If you want the 7:11 extended version, it is on plenty of comps. The 45, not available.
341 Billy Squier - Love Is The Hero 4:04
Same situation, LP is on plenty of GH comps...
347 Alan Parsons Project - Stereotomy 4:17
The Best of Vol 2 has the closest running time, which is 4:26. Possible edit or correct 45 version?

Appears to be on an import called Kuschelrock 6 and a German Best of 86 Import (running 4:50).

A few notes:
From what I understand the 45 promo version of Queen's One Vision can be made by removing the first 15 seconds of the single version that was released in the rest of the world on CD at 4:01. Can anyone confirm?
I can now confirm that the Platinum Collection does indeed have the 45 version of Chaka's Love Of A Lifetime at 4:15.
I can also confirm Heartache Away at 4:07 is the 45 version on CD.
I can also confirm One To One- Angel in My Pocket as well from the 2010 remaster.
Thanks everyone!

Miami Sound Machine - Bad Boy
This is now on the 2009/2015 compilation https://www.discogs.com/Gloria-Estefan-Playlist-The-Very-Best-Of-Gloria-Estefan/master/605309 - Playlist: The Very Best of Gloria Estefan (this is mentioned in Pat's database).
It is also on many editions of the 1992 compilation https://www.discogs.com/Gloria-Estefan-Greatest-Hits/master/104923 - Gloria Estefan - Greatest Hits ... but not on any of the US versions; imports only.

^A point of clarification: The U.S. single version of "Bad Boy" seems to only be available on the 'Playlist' CD that mjb50 notes above, and the promo-only 'Hits' compilation.
The version on 'Greatest Hits' (1992) is an alternate mix that may have been used on the 45 in another country at some point prior to that. (I am under the impression that no one has come up with concrete proof of the alternate version
playing on a vinyl 7" record, but we agree that it could be out there somewhere.)

If you want to talk about a top 10 edit not on CD, Mike + The Mechanics - All I Need Is A Miracle's Promo 45 Edit runs 3:47, not 3:42 as it does on every instance on CD. In some instances it cuts off abruptly at 3:42.
As discussed in another thread, Regina's Baby Love is a 1986 Top 10 that in its 45 version (4:06) does not appear on any 80's comps. While extended versions and mixes are out there, it only appears on CD on 1986's Curiosity.

It's interesting that judging by the running times of the
songs on this compilation, it seems that they used the
album versions for all the other songs except
"The Men
All Pause". I guess the 7-Minute length was too much for
them!

That is correct regarding "Somewhere." The first 8 seconds are mixed differently on the 45 version, as some of the sound effects have been removed from the mix as well as a brief vocal ad-lib. The remainder of the song is the same mix as the LP version.

Regarding Chaka Khan - Love Of A Lifetime in Poparchivist's
list. I don't think the version on the platinum collection
is the true 45 version. The track runs very slow. From my
recollection, there is one edit and a possible pitch
difference from the LP - easily recreated. The track
duration is closer to 4:11 and not 4:16. I don't have the
the promo 45 anymore to verify but the version on platinum
collection does not sound right to me. Can anyone confirm?

About Barbra's "Somewhere", I think the version used in
the
official music video is the 45 one.
If that's correct, then the best source for it could be
audio from the laserdisc (this one:
https://www.discogs.com/release/7541816-Barbra-Streisand-
Putting-It-Together-The-Making-Of-The-Broadway-Album ).
Later released on DVD (2007 - LPCM, DTS) as part of this
set: https://www.discogs.com/master/1109333-Streisand-
The-Concerts
The bad news is that towards the end of it the song's
audio
fades into the interview.
But maybe the intro of these video releases could be used
to recreate a digital sourced 45 version.
Not an expert. Just an idea.

Cristian sent me the laserdisc audio, and it's very narrow stereo. The best source (and the one I used) is the promo 12" single. I tacked the intro from the 12" onto the CD version, and it sounds nice.
